PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

I have been involved in teaching since 1970, dealing mainly with thosequestions related to the theory of Design. During this time I have attendedseminars and courses imparted by relevant figures in this field such as SvenHesselgren, Tomás Maldonado, Gui Bonsiepe and Claude Schnaidt.

Theintroduction of new design techniques in Cuba, including Computer AidedDesign, was the subject of papers delivered by me as soon as 1982 in eventslike the First National Conference on Building Science and Technologyand the Second Congress of the Latin-American Industrial DesignAssociation (ALADI). My experience in this field includeslocalization, customizing and software development inAutoCAD/AutoLISP/WINDOWS environment, the use of Computer Graphicsprograms and Desktop Publishing.

As a Professor I was a member of the Facultyof Architecture at the Instituto Superior Politécnico"José A. Echeverría" (ISPJAE) and one of thefounders of the Instituto Superior de Diseño Industrial eInformacional (ISDI). My name was included in the first edition of theCatalogue of Latin-American Industrial Design Teachers and Researcherspublished by the Laboratorio Brasileiro de DESIGN Industrial.

I have read papers in the First Ibero-American Encounter on Cities(Lima, 1983), lectured on Cuban Architecture in Budapest (1979) and in theUniversities of Algiers and Constantine (1981) as part of the cultural exchangeactivities within the International Architects Union (UIA).

I have takenpart as as an invited Professor in the Master's Degree Programs at theUniversidad Mayor de San Andrés (La Paz) and the UniversidadAutónoma Tomás Frías (Potosí), both in Bolivia(1996), and in the Universidad Nacional del Nordeste, Corrientes, Argentina (1999).

My practice as an architect has been mentioned in specialized publicationssuch as professor Roberto Segre's books on recent Cuban Architecture. The"Máximo Gómez" VocationalSchool (1976) which I designed was included in the Cuban exhibit at theSecond World Biennale of Architecture (Sofia, 1983).

I established my residence in Spain in 1992, working as a CAD and GISconsultant and teacher. Since 1995 I am an Associate Professor for ComputerAided Design in the University of Cantabria(UC), and CAD Instructor at the Instituto deFormación y Estudios Sociales (IFES), teaching AutoCAD, andMicrostation based CAD and GIS applications.

In the recent past, I have taken part, either as an independent consultantor within the UC's collaboration programs, in the following tasks:

  • SIGRID, Facilities Management system for Electra de VIESGO (Santander,Spain).
  • Urban Planning for the Municipality of Colindres (Cantabria, Spain).
  • CAD & GIS counselling for the municipality of Marina de Cudeyo(Cantabria, Spain).
  • CAD training at the Engineering Department of SENER, Ingeniería ySistemas, S.A. (Bilbao).
  • GIS training at ERYBA, Estudios de Mercado, S.A. (Bilbao).
  • GIS training, Departamento de Concentración Parcelaria,Diputación Regional de Cantabria.
  • CAD Mapping Techniques, Departamento de Montes, Diputación Regionalde Cantabria.
  • Solid Waste Management GIS, Consejería de Medio Ambiente.
  • METRO Visor, a Facilities Management project developed for Metro BILBAO.
  • GIS training and customization for the Municipality of Santander's TownPlan.
