PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:I have been involved in teaching since 1970, dealing mainly with those
questions related to the theory of Design. During this time I have attended
seminars and courses imparted by relevant figures in this field such as Sven
Hesselgren, Tomás Maldonado, Gui Bonsiepe and Claude Schnaidt. The
introduction of new design techniques in Cuba, including Computer Aided
Design, was the subject of papers delivered by me as soon as 1982 in events
like the First National Conference on Building Science and Technology
and the Second Congress of the Latin-American Industrial Design
Association (ALADI). My experience in this field includes
localization, customizing and software development in
AutoCAD/AutoLISP/WINDOWS environment, the use of Computer Graphics
programs and Desktop Publishing. As a Professor I was a member of the Faculty of Architecture at the Instituto Superior Politécnico "José A. Echeverría" (ISPJAE) and one of the founders of the Instituto Superior de Diseño Industrial e Informacional (ISDI). My name was included in the first edition of the Catalogue of Latin-American Industrial Design Teachers and Researchers published by the Laboratorio Brasileiro de DESIGN Industrial. I have read papers in the First Ibero-American Encounter on Cities
(Lima, 1983), lectured on Cuban Architecture in Budapest (1979) and in the
Universities of Algiers and Constantine (1981) as part of the cultural exchange
activities within the International Architects Union (UIA). I have taken part as as an invited Professor in the Master's Degree Programs at the Universidad Mayor de San Andrés (La Paz) and the Universidad Autónoma Tomás Frías (Potosí), both in Bolivia (1996), and in the Universidad Nacional del Nordeste, Corrientes, Argentina (1999). My practice as an architect has been mentioned in specialized publications such as professor Roberto Segre's books on recent Cuban Architecture. The "Máximo Gómez" Vocational School (1976) which I designed was included in the Cuban exhibit at the Second World Biennale of Architecture (Sofia, 1983). I established my residence in Spain in 1992, working as a CAD and GIS
consultant and teacher. Since 1995 I am an Associate Professor for Computer
Aided Design in the University of Cantabria
(UC), and CAD Instructor at the Instituto de
Formación y Estudios Sociales (IFES), teaching AutoCAD, and
Microstation based CAD and GIS applications. In the recent past, I have taken part, either as an independent consultant or within the UC's collaboration programs, in the following tasks:
